Ingredients

  • White sugar for rimming: This adds a sweet crunch with every sip and makes the presentation look professional.
  • 2 large limes quartered: Fresh lime juice is essential. Its bright, acidic flavor cuts through the sweetness and is a hallmark of a great mojito.
  • ½ bunch fresh mint leaves: This is the heart of the mojito. Fresh mint releases aromatic oils that provide that classic cool refreshing taste.
  • 7 strawberries quartered: Use ripe, juicy strawberries for the best flavor. They add a natural sweetness and beautiful color to the drink.
  • 1 cup white sugar: This sweetens the cocktail. You can adjust the amount based on how sweet you like your drinks and the ripeness of your strawberries.
  • 2 cups club soda: This adds the essential fizz and lightens the drink making it bubbly and even more refreshing.
  • 1 cup white rum: A quality white or light rum is the traditional choice. It has a clean subtle flavor that allows the mint and fruit to shine.
  • 8 cups ice cubes: Plenty of ice is crucial to keep your mojito perfectly chilled from the first sip to the last.

Method

  1. First, let's get the glasses ready. Pour a thin layer of white sugar onto a small plate. Take a lime wedge and run it along the rim of each of your eight cocktail glasses. Then, dip the moistened rims into the sugar, twisting gently to get an even coating. Set these glasses aside.
  2. Next, it's time to build the flavor base. Squeeze the juice from all the lime wedges into a large, sturdy pitcher. Add the juiced lime pieces into the pitcher along with the fresh mint leaves, quartered strawberries, and one cup of sugar. Use a muddler to gently crush these ingredients together, releasing the strawberry juice and mint oils.
  3. Once you've muddled the ingredients and the wonderful aromas are filling your kitchen, it's time to turn it into a cocktail. Pour the club soda and white rum into the pitcher. Stir everything together until the sugar has completely dissolved, ensuring all the flavors are well combined.
  4. The final step is serving your beautiful creation. Fill your prepared, sugar-rimmed glasses with ice cubes. Carefully pour the strawberry mojito mixture from the pitcher into each glass. Make sure each serving gets a good mix of the liquid and the muddled fruit and mint for the full experience.
