Poisoned Apple Cider

When I first made this Poisoned Apple Cider recipe, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the moment I took the first sip, I knew I had discovered something special. The mix of dark rum, apple cider, and blackberry liqueur creates a rich, mysterious flavor that feels perfect for a Halloween night.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz apple cider – Choose fresh unfiltered cider for the best flavor. Bottled juice won’t give the same richness.
  • 2 oz dark rum – Adds depth and warmth with subtle spice notes.
  • 1 oz blackberry liqueur – Gives the drink a haunting dark color and fruity sweetness.
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice – Freshly squeezed lemon balances out the sweetness.
  • Ice – Use large cubes to chill without watering it down quickly.
  • Blackberries – A spooky garnish that also adds freshness.
  • Cinnamon stick – For a warm aroma and decorative touch.

Method

  1. Start by measuring all your ingredients. Using a jigger helps keep the balance of flavors just right. Fresh cider and lemon juice are key—avoid bottled versions when possible. Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice so the drink chills evenly.
  2. Add the apple cider, dark rum, blackberry liqueur, and lemon juice into the shaker. Shake firmly for about 15–20 seconds. You want the flavors to mix completely while the ice cools everything down. A good shake gives the drink a refreshing and smooth texture.
  3. Fill your serving glass with fresh ice. Strain the cocktail over it so you get a clean, smooth pour. The dark, jewel-like color will immediately remind you of something magical and mysterious.
  4. Top it off with blackberries and a cinnamon stick. These not only make the drink look festive but also enhance the flavor. Serve right away and enjoy the spooky vibes.
