I recently made these peanut butter chocolate chip bars, and honestly, I couldn’t stop eating them. They came out warm, gooey, and filled with melty chocolate and creamy peanut butter in every bite. If you love desserts that feel comforting and indulgent, this one hits the mark.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted – Adds richness and helps the bars stay soft. Make sure it's slightly cooled before using.
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar – Offers moisture and a mild caramel flavor.
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar – Deepens the flavor with a hint of molasses. You can use just one type if preferred.
  • 2 eggs room temperature – Helps bind everything together and gives structure.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract – Enhances the sweet and nutty flavor.
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter – Choose high-quality peanut butter for the best taste. Crunchy works too for added texture.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – Standard base for chewy bars.
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda – Assists with a slight rise and prevents the bars from being too dense.
  • 1 tsp cornstarch – Adds softness and chewiness.
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips – Perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Toss in a few extra on top for visual appeal.

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper. This helps the bars come out clean with no sticking.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and cornstarch. These will be the dry base of your batter. Set aside once combined.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted and slightly cooled butter with both sugars until smooth. This gives the bars a rich, caramelized base. Then add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Keep whisking until air bubbles form.
  4. Now stir in the creamy peanut butter until everything is silky and well-blended. This is when the batter starts smelling heavenly!
  5. Add the dry ingredients into the wet. Use a spatula to gently fold them together until no streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to over-mix. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop the dough into your prepared pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips over the top for a pretty finish. Bake for 28–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
