Mixed Berry Smoothie with Almond Milk Recipe

I just whipped up this mixed berry smoothie and it’s become my new favorite way to start the day. It’s so simple, naturally sweet, and incredibly refreshing. The creamy texture from the almond milk and banana is just perfect.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed berries strawberry, blackberry, blueberry - Using a mix of berries provides a complex flavor and a wealth of antioxidants. You can use fresh or frozen.
  • 2 cups almond milk - Unsweetened almond milk keeps this smoothie dairy-free and low in calories while adding a subtle nutty creaminess.
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds - These tiny seeds are a powerhouse of healthy fats and fiber which helps keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer.
  • 1/2 banana - A ripe banana adds natural sweetness and contributes to the smoothie's smooth creamy texture, eliminating the need for refined sugars.

Method

  1. First, you'll want to prepare your fruit. If you are using fresh berries, give them a good rinse under cold water. I like to soak them for a few minutes in a large bowl of water with a tablespoon of vinegar to ensure they are thoroughly clean before draining them.
  2. Next, combine all your ingredients in a high-speed blender. Add the mixed berries, banana, almond milk, and chia seeds. Secure the lid and blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and has a creamy, consistent texture. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, feel free to add a little more almond milk.
  3. Once blended, pour the smoothie into two glasses. You can enjoy it as is, or add some toppings for extra flair. A few whole berries or a sprinkle of crushed nuts on top adds a nice touch. This smoothie is best served immediately while it's fresh and cold.
