Take the ice cream out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5–10 minutes. This makes it easier to scoop and helps it blend slightly when placed in the soda. If it’s too hard, the float won’t mix as smoothly.
Choose a tall, clear glass for the best presentation. Pour the chilled melon soda slowly into the glass, leaving some space at the top for the ice cream. A clear glass not only looks good but also lets you see the fizz and color of the soda.
Using your ice cream scoop, place one large scoop of softened vanilla ice cream carefully on top of the soda. The fizz will rise slightly, creating a foamy layer. This creamy topping is what makes the float both a dessert and a drink.
Add a maraschino cherry on top for color if you like. Serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon. You can sip the soda and scoop the ice cream separately, or mix them together for a creamy melon milkshake.
