Ingredients

  • 2 ounces fresh mango puree about 1 ripe mango – Use ripe mangoes for maximum sweetness and flavor; avoid canned puree, which may contain added sugar.
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice about 1 lime – Freshly squeezed juice is essential; bottled lime juice lacks brightness.
  • 10 fresh mint leaves – Use fresh green leaves for aroma; avoid wilted or dry leaves.
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or simple syrup – Adjust to taste; simple syrup blends more easily than granulated sugar.
  • 2 ounces white rum – Choose a light rum for a clean flavor that lets the mango and lime shine.
  • Club soda – Adds fizz and balances sweetness; pour gently to keep the bubbles.
  • Ice cubes – Keeps the cocktail crisp and chilled.
  • Lime wedges and mint sprigs for garnish – For a refreshing look and extra aroma.

Method

  1. Peel the ripe mango, remove the pit, and chop it into small chunks. Add the pieces to a blender and blend until smooth. If you prefer a silkier texture, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve. This step ensures your mojito has a smooth and refreshing taste.
  2. In a sturdy serving glass, place the fresh mint leaves and sugar or simple syrup. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to press the leaves gently. Avoid tearing them apart; you only need to release their oils and aroma. This step forms the refreshing base of your mojito.
  3. Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice into the glass, followed by the prepared mango puree. Stir the mixture gently so the flavors of mint, mango, and lime blend evenly. This combination is what gives the drink its signature tropical and zesty taste.
  4. Measure and pour in the white rum. Stir again to make sure the alcohol blends smoothly with the fruit mixture. The rum enhances the tropical flavor without overpowering the drink. If you prefer a lighter cocktail, you can reduce the rum slightly.
  5. Fill the glass with plenty of ice cubes, packing them well to keep the drink cold longer. Gently pour in club soda until the glass is almost full. Stir softly one more time so the soda mixes without losing its fizz.
  6. Finish the drink with a lime wedge on the rim and a sprig of fresh mint. This not only makes your mojito look beautiful but also enhances the aroma as you sip. Serve immediately for the best taste and refreshing effect.
