Hot Honey Ground Chicken Recipe

When I first made hot honey ground chicken, I was amazed at how quick and satisfying it was. The combination of sweet honey with a spicy kick from sriracha created a dish that felt special but was so simple to prepare. It’s now my go-to for weeknights when I want something flavorful yet easy to whip up.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp sriracha adjust for spice level
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 12 oz broccoli florets chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil divided
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onion for garnish

Method

  1. Start by heating half of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped broccoli florets and leave them untouched for a minute or two to develop a golden-brown sear. Stir occasionally, cooking until the broccoli turns bright green and slightly tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  2. Add the remaining olive oil to the same skillet. Over medium heat, add the ground chicken and break it apart as it cooks. Allow it to brown thoroughly on both sides before fully crumbling it. Browning adds incredible flavor, so don’t rush this step!
  3. While the chicken is browning, mix the honey, sriracha, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, and ground ginger together in a small bowl. This sweet and spicy combination is the heart of the dish and will elevate the flavor of the chicken.
  4. Once the chicken is fully cooked, pour the sauce over it and stir well to coat every piece. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the chicken. Be careful not to burn the sugars in the honey. Then add the roasted broccoli back into the skillet, mixing everything together. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion to finish.
