Ingredients

  • For the Hot “Honey” Sauce:
  • ½ cup Splenda® Multi-Use Syrup – This syrup is a great low-calorie alternative to sugar giving your sauce a sweet base while keeping it sugar-free.
  • 4 – 6 cloves garlic grated – Fresh garlic adds a rich, pungent flavor to the sauce. Grating it ensures the garlic infuses into the sauce without large chunks.
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce – Choose a hot sauce that’s tangy with a good level of heat to balance the sweetness from the syrup.
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil – The olive oil helps to smooth out the sauce and adds a hint of fruitiness.
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder – Onion powder gives a mild onion flavor complementing the garlic without overwhelming the sauce.
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper – A small amount of cayenne pepper provides the heat that makes the sauce "hot."
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt – Sea salt enhances the overall flavor of the sauce and balances out the sweetness and heat.
  • For the Sliders:
  • 10 ounces frozen crispy chicken strips – These pre-cooked strips make for a quick and crispy base saving you time while still delivering texture.
  • 10 slider buns optional: try with Hawaiian Rolls – Slider buns are perfect for this recipe, offering a soft contrast to the crispy chicken. Hawaiian Rolls add a sweet twist.
  • 10 toothpicks – Used to hold the sliders together after assembly.

Method

  1. Start by adding all the ingredients for the Hot “Honey” Sauce into a small bowl. If you prefer, you can use a mini-food processor to blend everything together for a smoother consistency. Whisk or blend until everything is well combined. After tasting, you can adjust the heat by adding a pinch more cayenne pepper if you want it spicier.
  2. Follow the instructions on the package to cook the frozen crispy chicken strips. Typically, this involves baking or frying the strips to a golden brown. Once cooked, remove them from the heat and let them cool slightly. Then, slice the chicken into 1-ounce pieces to fit perfectly on the slider buns.
  3. Take each slider bun and place one piece of the sliced chicken on it. Drizzle about a tablespoon of the hot honey sauce over the chicken. Be generous with the sauce, as it gives the sliders their signature sweet and spicy flavor. Once you’ve added the sauce, top the slider with the other half of the bun.
  4. To hold the sliders together, insert a toothpick in the center of each one. This step helps keep everything in place while serving and makes it easier to grab and eat. Repeat the process for the remaining sliders.
  5. Once all your sliders are assembled, serve them immediately. For any leftover sauce, pour it into a jar and refrigerate it for future use. These sliders are perfect for game day, parties, or a delicious family meal.

Notes

  • This recipe can easily be doubled if you’re serving a larger crowd.
  • If you want a more robust flavor, try using Hawaiian Rolls instead of regular slider buns for a sweet contrast.
  • The Hot “Honey” Sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to a week and is versatile enough to be used on other dishes like grilled chicken or as a dipping sauce for fries.
