Greek Style Chicken Plate with Tzatziki & Fries Recipe

I’ve always loved meals that are simple to make but feel indulgent, and this Greek Style Chicken Plate with Tzatziki & Fries hits that sweet spot perfectly. The first time I made it, the aroma of marinated chicken sizzling on the pan had me hooked instantly.
Total Time 55 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts – choose fresh for tender, juicy meat.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil – adds moisture and helps spices adhere.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder – brings a savory depth without overpowering.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder – enhances overall flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika – for smoky sweetness and color.
  • Salt and pepper to taste – essential for seasoning.
  • 2 cups frozen fries or fresh potatoes, cut into fries – fresh fries are crispier.
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt – use full-fat for a creamier tzatziki.
  • 1 small cucumber grated – squeeze out excess water for best texture.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill) – fresh is more aromatic.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice – brightens the sauce.
  • 1 clove garlic minced – gives that classic tzatziki kick.
  • Salt to taste – balances flavors.

Method

  1. Start by combining olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Coat the chicken breasts thoroughly and cover them. Let the chicken marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb all the flavors.
  2. In another bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, dill, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt. Stir until smooth, adjust seasoning to taste, and refrigerate until serving. This sauce is creamy, tangy, and refreshingly light.
  3. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on your frozen fries, or prepare fresh fries on a baking sheet. Spread them in a single layer and bake until golden and crispy. This ensures perfect crunch with every bite.
  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 6–7 minutes on each side until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Let it rest a few minutes before slicing, so it stays juicy.
  5. Slice the chicken into strips and arrange them on a plate with the crispy fries. Add a generous dollop of tzatziki on the side. Garnish with fresh dill or lemon wedges for an extra pop of flavor and color.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible; they elevate the flavor of both the chicken and tzatziki.
  • Serve chicken and fries hot for the best taste and texture.
  • Experiment with spices like cumin, smoked paprika, or chili powder to customize the marinade.
  • Meal prep-friendly: cook extra chicken and store it for quick lunches during the week
