Delicious Orange Dreamsicle Protein Shake Recipe

I’ve always loved shakes that feel like a treat but still fuel my body. Recently, I tried making an Orange Dreamsicle Protein Shake, and wow—it instantly became my favorite post-workout pick-me-up. The creamy vanilla notes perfectly blend with a fresh orange flavor, giving that classic summer Dreamsicle vibe.
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder – I prefer whey or plant-based vanilla for a smooth texture.
  • 1/2 cup orange juice – Freshly squeezed works best for a bright natural flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk – Adds creaminess without extra calories.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the “creamsicle” flavor profile.
  • 1 cup ice cubes – Makes the shake frosty; adjust for thickness preference.
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt – Adds extra creaminess and protein.
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon orange zest – Intensifies the orange flavor naturally.

Method

  1. Start by gathering all ingredients. Peel and segment your orange, measure the protein powder, and have ice ready. Having everything prepared makes blending smooth and fast.
  2. In your blender, add the protein powder, orange juice, almond milk, vanilla extract, and ice. Blend on high for 30–60 seconds until smooth and creamy. The ice gives a frosty texture, perfect for a refreshing drink.
  3. Give the shake a quick taste. If you want it sweeter, add a little more vanilla or a splash of orange juice. For extra creaminess, blend in Greek yogurt or a frozen banana.
  4. Pour the shake into a tall glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of orange zest or a small dollop of whipped cream for a fun touch. Sip immediately for the best creamy texture.

Notes

  • I like to use freshly squeezed orange juice—it makes a huge difference.
  • Adding a tiny pinch of salt balances the sweetness beautifully.
  • Blend on high to make it extra frothy and smooth.
  • If you love cold shakes, freeze your orange segments before blending.
  • I sometimes add a scoop of collagen for extra protein and skin benefits.
