Cherry Vanilla Earl Grey Tea Recipe

I’ve always loved experimenting with teas, and making Cherry Vanilla Earl Grey Tea has quickly become one of my favorites. The mix of fragrant Earl Grey with the sweet, tart cherry flavor and a hint of creamy vanilla is just irresistible.
Total Time 12 minutes
Calories: 80

Ingredients

  • Loose leaf Earl Grey tea – 2 teaspoons opt for high-quality leaves for the richest flavor
  • Dried cherries – 1/4 cup tart-sweet cherries work best, avoid overly sour varieties
  • Vanilla extract – 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla extract enhances the aroma and sweetness
  • Boiling water – 1 cup filtered water brings out the tea’s best flavors
  • Honey or sweetener – 1-2 teaspoons optional, adjust to your taste
  • Milk or dairy-free alternative – 1/4 cup adds creaminess, can skip for a lighter version

Method

  1. Start by placing your Earl Grey tea leaves and dried cherries in a teapot or infuser. Pour in boiling water, ensuring all leaves are submerged. Let it steep for 5-7 minutes so the flavors blend perfectly.
  2. Once steeped, remove the tea leaves and cherries. Stir in vanilla extract and honey, tasting as you go to adjust sweetness. The vanilla adds a subtle creamy note that balances the tartness of cherries.
  3. Finally, pour in your milk or dairy-free alternative. I like to warm it slightly before adding for a silky texture. Give it a gentle stir, and your Cherry Vanilla Earl Grey Tea is ready to serve.

Notes

  • I prefer using loose leaf tea instead of tea bags for a richer flavor.
  • I soak the dried cherries in warm water for 10 minutes before steeping to intensify the cherry taste.
  • If I want a stronger tea, I slightly crush the dried cherries before adding them.
  • I always use filtered water to avoid any bitterness or off-flavors in the tea.
