Ingredients

  • 3 limes – wash well and remove the pith for a less bitter taste
  • ¼ cup sugar – adjust to taste depending on how sweet you prefer it
  • 3 ½ cups cold water – always use cold for a refreshing blend
  • cup sweetened condensed milk – adds creaminess and balances tartness
  • Ice cubes – makes the drink extra chilled and refreshing

Method

  1. Start by washing and drying the limes thoroughly. Use a grater to remove the zest and set it aside. Then cut the limes into quarters, carefully removing the pith and membranes. This step is important because it keeps your drink from tasting bitter.
  2. Add the lime slices, lime zest, sugar, and cold water into a blender. Blend the mixture for about 20 to 30 seconds. Do not over-blend, or the drink may turn bitter. You should have a frothy, fragrant lime mixture at this point.
  3. Pour the blended mixture through a sieve or fine strainer to remove seeds and pulp. This will give your lemonade a smoother texture. Once strained, return the liquid back into the blender for the final step.
  4. Now, pour in the sweetened condensed milk with the strained lime mixture. Blend again for just a few seconds until the drink looks creamy and well combined. This step adds the signature smoothness that makes Brazilian lemonade so unique.
  5. Fill glasses with plenty of ice cubes. Pour the lemonade over the ice and give it a gentle stir before serving. Enjoy your chilled Brazilian lemonade as a refreshing treat on a hot day or as a sweet drink to pair with your meals.
