Blue Lemonade

When I first made this Blue Lemonade, I didn’t expect it to turn out this beautiful and refreshing. The bright blue color instantly reminded me of a beachy summer day, and the taste was a perfect mix of sweet and tangy. I love experimenting with drinks, and this one quickly became my go-to for parties and relaxing evenings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice – always squeeze fresh lemons for the best tangy flavor.
  • 4 cups cold water – chilled water keeps the lemonade refreshing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar – dissolves well and adds just the right sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup blue curaçao syrup non-alcoholic – gives the lemonade its striking blue color and subtle citrus flavor.
  • Ice cubes – make sure to use clear ice for a crisp look.
  • Lemon slices – perfect for garnish and a little extra flavor.
  • Fresh mint leaves – add a fresh aroma and beautiful presentation.

Method

  1. Start by squeezing fresh lemons using a citrus juicer. Fresh juice always tastes better than bottled lemon juice. Make sure to remove the seeds for a smooth drink.
  2. In a large pitcher, add the sugar and water. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves. This creates a sweet base that balances the tartness of the lemons.
  3. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the pitcher and stir well. At this point, you’ll notice the classic yellow lemonade color.
  4. Now comes the fun part. Slowly add the blue curaçao syrup and watch the drink transform into a beautiful, vibrant blue shade. Stir gently until well combined.
  5. Fill your serving glasses with ice cubes. Pour the Blue Lemonade over them and top with lemon slices and mint leaves for a refreshing finish.

Notes

I’ve made this drink several times, and a few tricks make it even more delicious:
  • Always chill your pitcher before mixing the lemonade for an extra-cold drink.
  • Use sparkling water instead of still water for a fizzy version.
  • Adjust the sugar depending on how sweet you like your lemonade.
  • If serving for kids, try adding fun straws or fruit slices for decoration.
