Apple Pie Egg Rolls Recipe

I absolutely love desserts that bring the cozy flavors of home into a fun, bite-sized form. Recently, I tried making Apple Pie Egg Rolls, and I was instantly hooked! These golden, crispy treats are filled with warm cinnamon-spiced apples, giving you all the comfort of apple pie but in a handheld, crispy package.
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups diced apples about 3 medium apples, peeled – I prefer softer varieties like Gala or Fuji for faster cooking.
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar – balances the tartness of the apples perfectly.
  • 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour – helps thicken the filling so it doesn’t leak.
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon – you can adjust based on your spice preference.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice – brightens the flavor and keeps apples from browning.
  • 12 egg roll wrappers – store-bought ones work best for that crisp golden texture.
  • Oil for frying – vegetable or canola oil works well for even frying.

Method

  1. Start by combining the diced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Stir everything together until the apples are evenly coated and the mixture looks thick and glossy.
  2. Lay out the egg roll wrappers and place about 2 heaping tablespoons of filling in the center. Fold in the sides and roll tightly, using a little water to seal the edges so the filling doesn’t leak during frying.
  3. Heat the oil to 350°F in a frying pan or deep fryer. Carefully fry each egg roll for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with tongs and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce while warm. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • I like to dice the apples small so they cook evenly and fit nicely in the wrapper.
  • Rolling the egg rolls tightly prevents the filling from leaking and makes frying safer.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying; it ensures each roll cooks evenly.
  • I sometimes preheat the filling slightly in the microwave to make assembly easier.
