Air Fryer Boneless Chicken Thighs Recipe

I recently tried making boneless chicken thighs in my air fryer, and I have to say, it was a game-changer! The chicken came out perfectly crispy on the outside while staying incredibly juicy inside.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black peppe
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Method

  1. Start by patting your chicken thighs dry with paper towels. This ensures the seasoning sticks and helps achieve that golden, crispy exterior.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil with all spices. Toss the chicken thighs until fully coated. I like to let them sit for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. This helps the chicken cook evenly and develop a nice crust.
  4. Place the thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 9–10 minutes, flip, and cook another 9–10 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check for 165°F (74°C) internal temperature.
  5. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after cooking. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the meat moist. Serve with lemon wedges or your favorite sides.

Notes

  • I always pat chicken dry first; it prevents soggy skin.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket; air circulation is key for crispiness.
  • I season both sides generously for balanced flavor.
  • Letting chicken rest after cooking keeps it juicy.
  • Experiment with spices – smoked paprika and cayenne give amazing flavor.
