Air Fryer Avocado Fries Recipe

I recently tried making air fryer avocado fries, and wow—what a game-changer! The outside comes out perfectly crispy, while the inside stays creamy and delicious. Honestly, I never thought avocado could taste this good as a finger food.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 slightly under-ripe avocados – firmer avocados hold their shape better during cooking.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs – gives a super crispy texture; regular breadcrumbs work but won’t be as crunchy.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese – freshly grated adds a nutty flavorful crust.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper – enhances the flavor without overpowering.
  • 2 large eggs whisked – acts as a binding agent for the coating.
  • Nonstick cooking spray – prevents sticking in the air fryer.
  • Coarse salt optional – for finishing touch and flavor.
  • Fresh lime juice optional – adds a bright, zesty flavor.
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing – store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha – adds a mild kick and pairs beautifully with avocado.

Method
 

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Slice each half lengthwise into 5 even pieces. Slightly firm avocados work best because they don’t turn mushy during cooking.
  2. In one bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the eggs. Dip each avocado slice in the egg first, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks.
  3. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with nonstick spray. Place avocado slices in a single layer without touching. Air fry at 350°F for 3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with remaining batches. Alternatively, bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes.

Notes

  • I always lightly spray avocado slices with oil to ensure extra crispiness.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the basket; fries cook unevenly if stacked.
  • Slightly under-ripe avocados give the perfect creamy texture inside.
  • Prepare the breadcrumb mixture in advance to save time during cooking.
